Participatory is the key word when describing Maumee Valley's program of athletics. On average, 65% of students in grades seven through twelve participate in at least one sport during the school year. To prepare students for athletic participation, MV's physical education and fitness curriculum beginning in the Preschool is based on a developmental plan that progresses at the rate of the individual student, not by age or skill level. Fitness activities (including use of an indoor climbing wall for the older students) are designed to build strength, flexibility, and endurance. An equal emphasis is placed on teaching the games and their rules. Student athletes learn to set goals, be team players and know the value of commitment to a season.
