Affording MVCDS

Financing an Independent School Education
We know that a Maumee Valley education can represent a significant financial investment for a family. But small classes, excellent facilities and outstanding teachers are not inexpensive. Families who understand that education is the best gift they can give their child are willing to seek creative ways to afford an MVCDS education:

Monthly Payment Plans. MVCDS offers extended payment plan options (3 payments or 12 monthly payments). All payments must be automatically withdrawn from your checking or savings account.  You may also chose to pay 100% of the tuition directly to the school by July 25.  For an additional fee you may charge your payments to a credit card.

Financial Grant and Aid. Maumee Valley seeks to enroll a diverse and talented student body which includes socio-economic diversity. For that reason the school is committed to a strong Financial Aid program. The number of aid recipients and the amount given to each family are determined by the school's Financial Aid Committee based on enrollment and budget considerations as well as a recommendation from FACTS Grant and Aid Assessment Service. Priority is given to students in grades 7-12.  Parents file online with FACTS at www.factstuitionaid.com and submit to them copies of the family's most recent IRS 1040 and W2's and any additional substantiating information.  If you have questions or concerns about the application process, please contact FACTS directly or call a Customer Care Representative at 1-866-315-9262.

Merit Scholarships. Maumee Valley offers several merit awards each year to students not currently attending our school.  A merit award is based solely on academic criteria (test scores, grades, interviews, and other considerations).  Students applying to grades 6 to 9 are tested on announced dates in the late fall and early spring.  Awards are granted for the following academic year.  These awards are renewed each year that the student attends Maumee valley.  Demonstrated financial need is not required and merit scholarship winners may also apply for financial aid.

SCRIP Program. Major national and regional retailers sell their gift cards/certificates to MVCDS at a discount.  These cards are purchased by MV families through the school at full price.  A percentage of the discount is applied to the specific student account.  Discounts are distributed to student accounts each October, February and May.  For more information please visit http://www.mvcds.4scrip.com/catalog/.

Enrollment Referral Tuition Credit. As a current MV family, if you recruit a new applicant who enrolls as a full-pay student, the current MV family is awarded a $500 tuition credit.

Host an International Student.  By hosting an International student you are paid a monthly housing stipend.  It can be paid directly to you by check or applied to your tuition account.
Merit Scholarships. Each year Maumee Valley grants renewable merit awards (Centennial and 21st Century Scholarships) in the amounts of $1,000, $2,000 and $4,000 to students entering sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth grades.
Relatives. Consider asking a grandparent or other relative to help fund tuition. Arrangements may be made with the Business Office to have bills sent directly to this person.
