Why Leadership Training?
The Global Education Program recognizes that to educate global leaders we must not only inform them about the world, we must also provide them with avenues to take action, and offer them the skills to pursue that action. To this end the GEP staff is working with faculty and administrators in all academic divisions to strengthen Maumee Valley's leadership training and service learning programs. While this initiative does not fall directly under under the Global Education Program, it is an important piece of the puzzle.

Plans & Activities
Before the start of school year 2006-2007, we worked to identify and train student leaders. In an intensive daylong workshop, GEP staff began the process of developing teamwork, collaboration, and innovation in those that are charged to lead the student body and join in the growth of the Global Education Program.

During school year 2006-2007, the Upper School is strengthening its advising program (in which each faculty member serves as the advisor for a small group of students, supporting their academic and social progress throughout their Upper School journey) by using some advisee time to pursue leadership training. Additionally, 10th grade students are using the popular personality profile software Do What You Are as a precursor to leadership training the following year.
