October 4-5, 2006: Lori Wallach, Director, Global Trade Watch
Ms. Wallach has been dubbed "Ralph Nader with a sense of humor" by The Wall Street Journal and is respected for her work on behalf of the public during the rise of globalization. Ms. Wallach spoke before a crowd of 125 including Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur, Toledo Councilman Mark Sobczak, and Toledo Rotary President Phineas Anderson, about "The Failure of Corporate Globalization and What Comes Next." December 13-14, 2006: William Melick, Professor of Economics, Kenyon College
Professor Melick served on President Bush's Council of Economic Advisers in 2001 and worked at the Federal Reserve in Washington, D.C. His talk, "Globalization - Too Good to Last? Lesson from Economics and History," was presented to the Northwest Ohio community. Professor Melick also conducted workshops with Maumee Valley students in grades 7-12 and seminars with faculty. March 15-16, 2007: Jennifer Clapp, Chair of Center for International Governance Innovation, Professor of Environmental Studies, University of Waterloo
Professor Clapp is an award-winning instructor and accomplished author. Her talk on "Economic Globalization and the Environment: Compatible or Colliding?" took place on Thursday, March 15 at 7:30 p.m. in Maumee Valley's Blakey Resource Center.
