This is a great day in the history of Maumee Valley Country Day School. That’s significant, because we have a great history. For nearly 125 years, we have been providing boys and girls, young men and young women, with the finest education available. Through much of our history, this has meant education in the highest ideals and finest traditions of western civilization. But at the same time, we are proud to have been on the forefront of constructive change and innovation.
As proud as we are of our history, we are prouder of our tradition of embracing the future and rising to meet its challenges. And today we are doing so in a most important and exciting way.
The partnership we form today with Yanshan University Attachment School is a bright light for the future of Maumee Valley, and we hope for you as well. With this partnership we recognize that although miles, histories, and cultures may separate us, we have in common a profound and enduring commitment to education. We, like you, believe that education is the basis on which all of our hopes and dreams are built. If we are to make the most of our lives, of our communities, and of our planets, we must share with each other all that we know about our world and all that we hope to learn. We today are pledging to pursue those goals with you as our partner. We are honored that you are willing to enter into this partnership with us, and we look forward to all this to come as we go down this road together.
I am confident that, many years from now, when those who follow us in these positions look back on the histories of our institutions, they will recognize today as a great occasion, made possible by the vision, commitment, and hard work of honorable people. To all of you who have made this day possible: on behalf of the Board of Trustees, the faculty and staff, the students, and all other members of the Maumee Valley community, I give you my deepest thanks and warmest appreciation.
