The Journey Begins – Preschool and Kindergarten

With an average child-to-adult ratio of eight to one, Maumee Valley Preschool and Kindergarten students have many opportunities for one-on-one interaction with their teachers. This specialized attention coupled with our challenging curriculum is supplemented with field trips and guest speakers to further expand the horizons of young minds.

Equally importantly, our youngest students get acquainted with the school’s deep sense of community through Maumee Valley’s buddy system. This mentoring program partners Preschool and Kindergarten children with students in our Lower School, and is designed to provide growth and learning opportunities for all.
Taking the First Step: P3 and P4
Children entering Maumee Valley’s Preschool immediately begin their educational journey. Our preschool is a nurturing place where students successfully adjust to the concepts of school and learning. In addition to the variety of challenging learning experiences provided in a homeroom setting, P3 students are exposed to the Spanish language and physical education by certified instructors, while our P4 students receive specialized instruction in the visual arts and music, as well as Spanish and physical education.

Opening Doors to Curiosity, Creativity and Confidence
“I am always amazed at the ability of the children when I present them with a new learning game and ask them to uncover for themselves how to play with it. Even the youngest Maumee Valley students exhibit creativity, questioning and problem-solving skills, which help them develop critical thinking skills later on. The sense of accomplishment the students experience really boosts self-confidence.”

Opening Doors to Imagination, Intelligence and Innovation

“I know even our younger students have the ability to make choices in how they learn. I have had students who found it easier to pay attention to a lesson while standing -- or conversely, while curling up in a special area of the room. That is why all teachers at Maumee Valley strive to adapt the learning environment in ways that ultimately help students maintain focus and be successful learners.”
