This year, Maumee Valley Country Day School will cover 80 percent of its costs with tuition and 10 percent with endowment income. Because income from the endowment is largely restricted to specific purposes (financial aid, for example), the flexible, unrestricted funds that come from the Annual Giving Fund are critical each year. The Fund ensures that Maumee Valley Country Day School can sustain its demanding curriculum, exceptional winterim experiences, and top notch programs in the arts and athletics.

By providing approximately 10 percent of the School's annual operating budget, the Annual Fund has a direct bearing on the quality of a Maumee Valley education and is the highest financial priority of the School each year.

The Return on Your Investment
The flexible-use funds provided by the Annual Fund are critical to sustaining the hallmarks of an Maumee Valley education, such as:
  • A 10:1 student-teacher ratio which provides faculty with flexibility to provide innovative rigorous education while giving students personal attention.
  • Taking students out into the world to learn history, science, math concepts in a hands-on learning environment
  • Providing guest lecturers and speakers who expand students thinking
  • Dynamic faculty who push students to dream big and reach their potential
The Goals for the Annual Fund: 2011-12
The size and flexibility of the Annual Fund ensures the resources to sustain Maumee Valley’s distinctive margin of excellence. Providing ten percent of each year’s operating budget, the Annual Giving Fund protects the programs, the places and the people that Maumee Valley has so thoughtfully invested in for generations.

This year's annual fund goal is $250,000 with participations goals of:
20% alumni
50% current parent
25% former parent
5% grandparents

More than a quarter of gifts made to Maumee Valley’s Annual Giving Fund are gifts of $100 or less. Last year, these gifts accounted for approximately $100,000 of the total raised. It would take a $2 million endowment to generate that amount for the operating budget. The absence of those gifts would certainly have a negative impact on our students and faculty.
