Hobbit Camp (2 and a half - 5 yrs old)

Hobbit camp is for children two and a half years old (by Sept. 2019) through five years old.

Morning session: 9:00am - 12:00pm.  Afternoon session: 12:30pm - 3:30pm.
Hobbit: n., a benevolent, hospitable burrow people, two to four feet high and fond of bright colors. (Brewer’s Dictionary of Phrase and Fable)

Hobbit Day Camp is the perfect burrow for your 30 months through five-year-old child. Each week we highlight a special theme that is addressed through our books, snacks, art, and activities. Camp activities include reading together, preparing our yummy treats, climbing and sliding on the playground, arts and crafts, yoga for kids, and exploring the woods around us. We'll also make time for singing, playing games, and cooling off in our  Hobbit wading pools in the afternoon.

Our day will have lots of learning but, like Hobbits, well allow plenty of time for just enjoying the summer. And, for sure, well set aside a short time each afternoon for resting.

Campers who stay all day or for the Lunch Supervision with their Half-Day Option will need a lunch with beverage (refrigeration and microwave are available), sunscreen, and insect repellent. All-day and afternoon campers will need a bathing suit and towel.
Hobbit Camp Director: Denise Peksa is a certified K-8 teacher who has worked in the preschool at Maumee Valley Country Day School for six years. She loves the outdoors and animals. Her philosophy about early education is that children learn best through play and hands-on experiences.

Hobbit Camp Teacher: Tricia Cowell is the lead teacher of the Preschool class at Maumee Valley Country Day and is certified in Early Childhood education. She enjoys spending time with her family, the outdoors, and reading. Children learn best through play and exploring their environment is her philosophy of early childhood.
