Amy joins the ELC with experience as a preschool teacher from KinderCare Learning Center, Huffer Memorial Children’s Center, and Apple Tree Nursery School. Amy had most recently been providing in-home childcare following the birth of her daughter.
June is a native of Toledo and a grandmother of two. She is a retired elementary teacher who loves to volunteer her time teaching at Children's Church, Sunday School, and supervising a Junior Girls Club.
Katie comes to us from Queen of Apostles School in Toledo, where she taught second grade for the past five years. Katie has a Bachelor of Science degree from Eastern Michigan University and a Masters's degree from Lourdes University.
Lindsey joins us from St. Ursula to teach Middle School math and science. Lindsey has taught Biology at St. Ursula since 2016. She also served as the Equestrian Coach and Freshman Class Moderator. Lindsey has a Bachelor of Science in Middle Childhood Education. Outside of school, Lindsey conducts data research for the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Toledo.
Paige most recently taught at McClelland Elementary School in Indianapolis, Indiana. She has taught in a variety of classrooms and multiple grade levels and has experience integrating technology to meet students’ varying needs and interests with many different subjects. She brings her love and knowledge of technology to her work with LS and MS students and teachers.
Dr. Macek comes to Maumee Valley from Notre Dame Preparatory School in Towson, MD, where she spent the past fourteen years as a science teacher, department chair, and the Director of the Upper-Level STEAM Program. Regarded as a passionate and highly collaborative instructional leader, Dr. Macek brings a diverse array of independent school teaching and administrative experience.
Dr. Macek earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Georgetown University and a Master of Arts in Teaching from Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Macek most recently received her Doctor of Education with a specialization in 21st Century Education from Johns Hopkins University. Before teaching, Dr. Macek worked at Johns Hopkins University in the Department of Neurology in Baltimore, MD, and the Gillette Company in the Department of Microbiology in Boston, MA.
A native Michigander, Dr. Macek looks forward to returning to the Midwest. Molly and her husband, Mark Macek, a federal attorney who enjoys playing hockey in his spare time, have two sons, Michael (11) and Andrew (7).
Georgette joins us as Director of College Counseling. Georgette has been overseas for a few years, most recently at Al Mizhar American Academy in Dubai. She also worked at the British School of Beijing, and other international schools. Georgette has experience building a college counseling program and previously worked as a college counselor, career counselor, and a school counselor. Georgette has a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work and Sociology from Laurentian University in Ontario, Canada. She earned her Masters of Education in Psychology from Howard University and has pursued coursework towards a Doctoral Studies in Education at Catholic University.
Sara joins us from Irving, Texas, where she taught English II and AP Language and Composition at John Paul II High School. She will be teaching both history and English in the Upper School. Sara has a Bachelor of Arts in English from Ball State University and is currently pursuing a Masters in Humanities from the University of Dallas.
Melanie joins us from Denver, Colorado, where she taught English at Aurora Central High School. Melanie will be teaching ESOL and English 1. A graduate of Laurel School in Cleveland, Melanie earned her BA from Case Western Reserve and her MA in Education from Adams State University.
Miles joins the Maumee Valley team as a member of our Science faculty. A native Ohioan, Miles recently completed an M.A. in Chemistry at the University of Virginia. Miles completed his undergraduate career at Amherst College, where he received a B.A. in Chemistry and a B.A. in Religion. While a student at UVA and Amherst, Miles served as a Teaching Assistant for undergraduate Chemistry laboratory classes. In this role, he facilitated student learning by preparing and implementing lessons, designing assessments, guiding students in lab investigations, and tailoring lessons to meet the needs of a diverse student population. Furthermore, as a Research Assistant at Amherst, Miles engaged in and contributed to current research in the field of Chemistry.
Brooklyn has been supervising students in the ETC program and has been serving as a substitute teacher assistant in the Pre-K and Kindergarten classrooms at Maumee Valley since 2017. Brooklyn moved into the Dayal house over the summer. Brooklyn is from Perrysburg. She is a graduate of Revere Academy for Art in San Francisco, Ca. She enjoys traveling, yoga, art, camping, gardening, and listening to music. Brooklyn also works with the ETC after school program at Maumee Valley.
