  • Baseball 101 - Grades 1-4

    Students will learn the fundamental of fielding and throwing. This is a great camp given by Devon Garcia.

    Fee: $149
    Instructor: Devon Garcia is a division 1 Collegiate Baseball player that has played Center-field for the past three years. He has played on elite summer teams such as The Utica Blue Socks (Utica, New York} Eau Claire Express (Eau Claire, Wisconsin) Midland Redskins Cincinnati, Ohio) and The Southern Copperheads (Athens, Ohio) Devon has played in the Mac Conference Championship in 2017 and WON, he has also appeared in the 1st round of the regionals in the NCAA COLLEGE WORLD SERIES.   • Big Man Post-Up Basketball Skills - Grades 1-8

    Students will learn the fundamentals of the post-up game, how to get in position and how to finish at the rim.

    Fee: $129
    Instructor: Mr, Coleman has over 20 years of experience with the sport of basketball. Mr. Coleman has played and taught Elementary, Junior High, High School, Collegiate, and International level. He is also the founder of a youth program called THE TOLEDO WILD CATS.

  • Girls Basketball Skills Camp - Grades 1-4

    This camp is to improve fundamental skills such as footwork, passing, ball-handling, and shooting. Campers will have opportunities to develop skills and then practice them in fun and competitive games. Campers will enjoy the fun, non-intimidating environment.

  • Gym Chasers Basketball Camp - Grades 1-8 (ages 5-14)

    This camp will teach the fundamentals of the game, shooting, dribbling, defense, passing, and footwork and most of all how to compete and be a team player.

    Fee: $129
    Instructors: Zeke Hill & Dontavyion Fleming have over 15 years of combined experience. They have from Junior High, High school, College and Professional players they have coach. Colleges player they have work with represent school such as Michigan University, Michigan State, Iowa University, Iowa State, Arizona State, The Ohio State University, Butler University and many more.
  • Junior Detectives - Grades 1-4

    In this exciting camp we will be solving mysteries using clues found in games, crafts, snacks, science experiments, and other activities that we will do during camp. The last activities will involve solving the mystery.

    Instructor: Elaine Sneider has over 40 years of experience teaching children. She has a degree in Early Childhood Education and has been teaching theatre and enrichment classes since 1992. She is the owner of Adventures in Education, is the Drama Director at St. Joan of Arc & OLPH, is a Piano and Vocal Instructor, teaches enrichment classes and camps for St. Rose, OLPH, Bedford Community and directs a year-round theatre program for K-8 in Maumee, Ohio. A published playwright, she has written 35 children's musicals and has directed over 125 shows.
  • Jr. Chef - Grades 4-8

    Cook like a Jr. Chef! We will create healthy snacks, appetizers, meals, desserts, and even our own cookbook. Cooking with kids is a great way to educate them about proper nutrition, what's in season, planning and preparing meals and reading food labels. Plus, it can encourage them to eat healthy foods. Cooking may even help get students interested in trying healthy foods they might typically refuse to eat. Help me expand their horizons by getting them in the kitchen!

    Instructor: Crystal Lieb has been a Summer Time teacher for eight years. She enjoys creating healthy and delicious dishes at home for her family and friends. During the school year, she works as Lead Art Teacher at Hope Learning Academy of Toledo and is a member of the afterschool cooking club.
  • Kite Making and the Science of Flight! Grades 5-8

    Students will learn the history of kite design; they will create their own kite pattern from homemade instruments, test, and record how high the kite flys.

  • Making Art w/ Non-Traditional Item - Grades 1-4

    Students will make predominantly 3D pieces w/found objects and other materials that are not traditional materials.

    Instructor: Steve Athanas has a BA in Art Education from the University of Toledo. He has spent four-plus decades performing in a various rock bands in the area. He is now focused on the Visual Arts and has shown his work in galleries.
  • Spanish 1 Grammer Class - Grade 6-8

    This class will be an in-depth review of Spanish 1 grammar. We will conjugate the verbs and drill the grammatical structures, that are common to Spanish 1. AR, ER, IR verbs in the present tense, the reflexive structure, stem-changing verbs, irregular verbs, the "gusta" structure, conjugated verb + infinitive, and basic sentence structure. The class is taught in English with some practice in Spanish Grades 6+

    Materials: Bring a notebook and writing instruments, and the Spanish Novel "Felepe Alau".
  • Squishy Circuit Kidz Labs - Grades 1-4

    Let's have some squishy fun! Create simple electrical robotic machines with play-dough, batteries, and simple electrical circuits.

    Fee: $149
    Instructor: Claudette Garcia is a Maumee Valley Extended Time Care teacher and a mother of four boys, who has lived so many of these experiences with her own children. She believes in educational programs that provide learning, mixed with fun and practical insights for kids.
  • Tennis - Grades 1-8

    Shadow Valley Tennis Club Pros are proud to offer a tennis program for Beginners, Intermediates & Advanced players.

    Beginner students will learn basic skills including ground strokes, volleys, serves, overheads, and work on their court positioning. They will also work on basic hand-eye coordination which will advance their play.

    Intermediate & Advanced players will not only work on their acquired skills but also concentrate on tennis strategy for singles and doubles play. The strategy will allow them to take their game to the next level.

    Each group will also play out points, games and compete in mini tournaments.

    Fee: $149
    Materials Needed: Please bring a tennis racquet and a water bottle.
    Instructors: Classes will be taught by experienced Shadow Valley Pros.

  • Advance Post Play Footwork and Skills - Grades 5-12

  • Backyard Games - Grades 5-8

    Remember a time when all the neighborhood kids would gather for hours playing games outside? Backyard games will allow campers an opportunity to play all the classics like whiffle ball, touch football, kick ball, and capture the flag, plus they’ll learn a few new ones.

    Materials: Please wear athletic attire.
    Instructor: Chris Fischl has taught Lower School math and science at Maumee Valley Country Day School for over 15 years.
  • Baseball Hitting 101 - Grades 5-8

    Students will learn the fundamentals of hitting & fielding.

  • Basic Music Theory - Grades 1-6

    The basic music theory class is for anyone who has a desire to learn how to read music, or those who want to refine their knowledge and skills to better their ability to play their instrument.

  • Board Game Design Grades 5-8

    Students will learn about the principals of board game design through playing and analyzing a variety of board games. Groups will work cooperatively to design a playable game and tweak their design through play-testing with other groups. Finished games will be donated to the library at MVCDS.

  • Glee Club Sings and Dances to Fun Tunes - Grades 1-4

    Enjoy singing and dancing to fun tunes such as "Under the Sea" and "I Won't Grow Up" as we we prepare for our performance. Included with the class is a CD with a practice music, and a lyric packet.

  • Jazz / Commercial Music Theory - Grades 8-12

    In this class we will review intermediate music theory practices such as chords and their inversions, intervals,major and minor scales, harmonic functions and more. We will build upon those practices with the introduction of modal, extended harmonies, blues and jazz concepts, improvisation, and the application of these musical ideas in different styles of music.

    Instructor: Angel Thompson has a bachelors degree in violin music performance from Belmont University, one of the leading music programs in the U.S.
  • Kids’ Yoga - Grades 1-4

    Children are natural yogis: curious, flexible, intuitive, and always “in the moment”. Through movement, children can explore the creative aspects and experience the meditative qualities of this ancient practice. Students will be taught fun poses that are inspiring, invigorating and calming. They will also be led through guided meditations that promote relaxation, body and breath awareness and stimulate the imagination. Children’s literature, music and opportunities for artistic expression will be woven into the class format.

    Instructor: Jenn McCullough was an elementary special education teacher when she started practicing yoga over 15 years ago and found that the benefits helped reduce her physical and mental tension not only in class but also in her daily life. Ultimately, her love for teaching and yoga converged, and she began teaching yoga full time. Jenn received her yoga teacher certification at Bhumi's Yoga and Wellness Center which is recognized by the Yoga Alliance, an organization that sets standards for teacher certification programs. She strives to create an experience for her students that allows them to make their yoga practice relevant in their daily lives. Jenn teaches Hatha Yoga to a wide range of practitioners; believing that yoga is for “every body”. Jenn’s classes incorporate flowing vinyasas in addition to themed instruction around physical alignment principles as well as the teachings from the Yoga Sutras and Life. She gears her classes toward students' needs and interests. As a former special education teacher, Jenn has met the growing interest in bringing yoga and meditation practices to area schools, including MVCDS, Ottawa Hills, Grove Patterson Elementary, Polly Fox Academy, and Devilbiss High School.
  • Kindergarten Readiness - Grade K

    Come learn about Kindergarten routines and practice early Literacy and Math skills by using hands on applications. We plan on getting MESSY and doing lots of outside learning . Each day will have a different theme filled with fun crafts and activities,

    Instructor: Heather Huhn has been teaching at MVCDS for 6 years and has over 17 years of experience teaching Kindergarten.
  • Lego STEAM - Grades 1-2

    We will use and build with Legos to perform fun experiments, such as balloon powered Lego car races, fun science Lego games, and much more!

    Fee: $149
    Materials: Please bring a 10" by 10" Lego base plate

  • Spanish Reading and Storytelling - Grade 6-8

    Students will hear, read and re-tell stories and create their own spoken, and written stories.

  • Step Leadership - Grades 5-8

    Individuals will build character, leadership, team & communication skills while creating a step performance together. Theatrically they will practice stage presence, focuses and breaking stage fright. A talent portion may be incorporated which will allow the youth to showcase their talent.

    Materials: Please bring comfortable clothes, shoes, water, towels. Prepare to sweat.
    Instructor: Pasha Carter loves to have fun! She thrives on being a mentor to youth of all ages including preschoolers! She is extremely passionate and assertive with theatre and Step coaching. Being thyself allows others to be themselves, which is she also encourages! She is an artist of many gifts!
Cancellation Policy
You may cancel up to one week prior to the first day of a class or camp and will receive a full refund minus the 25% non-refundable deposit. Cancellation within one week before the first day of a class or camp may result in no refund due to teachers' preparations based on expected enrollment. All classes and camps are subject to cancellation due to insufficient enrollment. If this should occur, you will be notified and a full refund given.

Before & After Camp Care Available

Adults with experience in before and after school care programs care for and supervise the children. The program offers creative and fun activities, such as games, arts, and crafts.

Morning Before Camp Care 7:30am - 9:00am
Afternoon After Camp Care 3:30pm - 5:30pm

Fees listed below are for one week of camp (Mon-Fri) at the class times specified.

Full-day (Grades 1-8)

$259: Includes Before Camp Care, choice of Morning Class, Lunch Supervision, choice of Afternoon Class, and After Camp Care.

Half-day Options (Grades 1-8)
$149:
Morning Class (includes Before Camp Care)

Afternoon Class (includes After Camp Care)

Hobbit Camp: 
Ages 2 and a half (by Sept.) through 3 years old; and ages 4 to 5 years.

Full-day
$239: Includes Before Camp Care, Morning Hobbit Camp, Lunch Supervision, Afternoon Hobbit Camp, and After Camp Care.

Half-day Options
$139: Morning session (includes Before Camp Care)
or
$120: Afternoon session (includes After Camp Care)

Lunch Supervision: Preschool - Grade 8 (12:00-12:30pm)
$50: The lunch supervision includes time to eat lunch brought from home with a beverage (refrigeration is provided) and time for socializing and free time on the playground. Lunch Supervision is included in the Full-Day Fee, so there is no Lunch Supervision fee for students staying for a full day.

High School Classes (Grades 9-12)
Classes are individually priced.

Registration Fees
All registration fees are due in full before the first day of class or your spot is not guaranteed. This includes your application and the total cost of each program. No classes will be prorated.

Payment is accepted by check, MasterCard, VISA, American Express, Discover, or a money order made payable to Maumee Valley Country Day School. Cash will also be accepted in the Lower School office.

Confirmation
A confirmation notice is sent upon receipt of a completed application and payment. Your confirmation will contain information regarding check-in procedures.
