  • American Girl Adventures - Grades 2-5

    Enjoy real girl adventures with some of your favorite American Girls. We will experience life as they enjoyed it, using games, crafts, and snacks. Girls this year are Felicity & Elizabeth, Addy, Nanea Mitchell, Tenny Grant, and Luciana Vega (the Girl of 2018). Feel free to bring your dolls to camp.

    Instructor: Elaine Sneider has over 40 years of experience teaching children. She has a degree in Early Childhood Education and has been teaching theatre and enrichment classes since 1992. She is the owner of Adventures in Education, is the Drama Director at St. Joan of Arc & OLPH, is a Piano and Vocal Instructor, teaches enrichment classes and camps for St. Rose, OLPH, Bedford Community and directs a year-round theatre program for K-8 in Maumee, Ohio. A published playwright, she has written 35 children's musicals and has directed over 125 shows.
  • Arts and Snacks - Grades 1-4

    Combine Art and Snacks and what do you get? A fun-filled class! Each day we will work on drawing and painting techniques along with learning new skills in the kitchen. We will make easy, healthy, appetizers from snack mix to mini pizzas.

    Fee: $149
    Materials: Please bring an old apron or paint shirt.
    Instructor: Crystal Lieb has been a SummerTime teacher for over eight years. She enjoys creating her own artwork, viewing other artist work, and teaching art to young people. During the school year, she works as Lead Art Teacher at Hope Learning Academy of Toledo and is a member of the school's cooking club. So be ready to have fun, explore and create!
  • Creative Arts Camp - Grades 5-8

    Stretch your imagination and develop your skills as you capture creative ideas using a variety of materials. You will paint fantasy landscapes, draw with pastels, and create cartoon characters. Sculpt imaginary creatures using polymer clay and make 3-dimensional mixed media figures. Emboss cards and prints using a printing press, make handmade paper, make art-to-wear and use tooling foil to create unique artworks. Express your creativity and make wonderful creations for yourself or to give away.

    Fee: $149
    Instructor: LouAnn Glover has been an art instructor at Maumee Valley for more than 30 years. She has taught a variety of art classes and exhibits her art work locally. Lou Ann is a recipient of the Outstanding Art Teacher from N.W. Ohio Art Education Association.
  • Gym Chasers Basketball Camp - Grades 1-8 (ages 5-14)

    This camp will teach the fundamentals of the game, shooting, dribbling, defense, passing,and footwork. most of all how to compete and be a team player.

    Fee: $129
    Instructors: Zeke Hill & Dontavyion Fleming have over 15 years combined experience. They have coached players from junior high, high school, college and professionals. College players they have worked with represent schools such as Michigan University, Michigan State, Iowa University, Iowa State, Arizona State, The Ohio State University, Butler University and many more.

  • Kids in the Kitchen - Grades 1-4

    Do you enjoy cooking? If you do this class is for you. We will learn the basic of kitchen safety and enjoy putting together special snacks. This camp will also include food games and activities. Please make us aware of any food allergies.

  • Making Art w/ Non-Traditional Items - Grades 1-4

    Students will make predominantly 3D pieces with found objects and other materials that aren't traditional materials.

    Fee: $149
    Instructor: Steve Athanas has a BA in Art Education from the University of Toledo. He has spent four-plus decades performing in various rock bands in the area. He is now focused on the Visual Arts and has shown his work in galleries.
  • Mini Mozart Camp - Grades 1-4

    This class is designed for younger students and will teach basic musical concepts such as rhythm, dynamics and note recognition through a variety of music-based games and fun activities. Students will use their voices, move their bodies and stretch their creativity in this fun-filled camp for grades 1-4.
     
    Fee: $149
    Instructor: Kim Buehler has been teaching in the Toledo area for over 25 years. She was part of the voice faculty at the University of Toledo and teaches voice at Toledo School for the Arts. Kim also maintains a studio of private voice students at her Sylvania home. You can also hear her on various radio/TV commercials such as I Love My Zoo, Magic Wok, Toledo Just Look At Us Now, and many more. This is her eighth summer with MVCDS SummerTime camps!
  • Spanish 2 Grammer Class - Grade 7-8

    This class will be an in-depth review of Spanish 2 grammar. Preterite, imperfect, irregular preterite, object pronoun usage, comparisons and & superlatives, and commands. Grades 7+. Students will read the novel "Robo en la Noche"
     
    Fee: $149
    Materials: Students will need a notebook and writing instrument.
     
  • Squishy Circuit Kidz Labs - Grades 1-4

    Let's have some squishy fun! Create simple electrical, robotic machines with play-dough, batteries, and simple electrical circuits.

    Fee: $149
    Instructor: Claudette Garcia is a Maumee Valley Extended Time Care teacher and mother of four boys, who has lived many of these experiences with her own children. She believes in educational programs that provide learning mixed with fun and practical insights for kids.
  • Tennis - Grades 1-8

    Shadow Valley Tennis Club Pros are proud to offer a tennis program for Beginners, Intermediates & Advanced players.

    Beginner students will learn basic skills including ground strokes, volleys, serves and overheads & work on their court positioning. They will also work on basic hand-eye coordination which will advance their play.

    Intermediate & Advanced players will not only work on their acquired skills but also concentrate on tennis strategy for singles and doubles play. The strategy will allow them to take their game to the next level.

    Each group will also play out points, games and compete in mini tournaments.

    Fee: $149
    Materials: Please bring a tennis racquet and a water bottle.
    Instructors: Classes will be taught by experienced Shadow Valley Pros.
  • Track and Field Camp - Grades 5-8

    Campers will learn a wide variety of different track events.

  • Art and Books! - Grades 1-4

    Eric Carle is a well-known children’s book illustrator. His iconic style is an inspiration for our art projects. Each day we will read Eric Carle books and then make our Eric Carle masterpiece. We will also make our own book! Kiddos will play with paint, printmaking, tissue paper and experiment with textures. Be ready to hang up WOW pieces!

  • Introduction to Music Recording - Grades 7-12

    This class is an introduction to recording programs in general. Students would be working primarily on Garageband on Apple Macs for this. The goal is to give students a start on to how audio interfaces work, basic mic techniques for different instruments, and an intro to synthesized instruments. This class offers having a product at the end (some sort of recording, whether it be a song with lyrics, instrumental, electronic, beats or the like).

    Instructor: Lucas Madrazo is a 2002 Maumee Valley graduate who recently moved back to Toledo after 11 years in New York. He worked primarily in music management, but was also always a freelance private music teacher and musician. He always maintained playing in at least 4 or 5 different original projects at a time, and is currently involved in three here in town. He also teaches music at Forte School of Music.
  • Lego STEAM - Grades 1-2

    We will use and build with Legos to perform fun experiments, such as balloon powered Lego car races, fun science Lego games, and much more!

    Fee: $149
    Materials: Please bring a 10" by 10" Lego base plate

  • Musical Theatre: Act 1: The Little Red Hen - Grades 1-4

    In this camp we will focus on acting, dancing and singing skills as we prepare The Little Red Hen musical. The camp will include acting games, exercises, prop making, preparation and activities to improve acting skills. Campers will receive a CD with the accompanying music on it plus a copy of the script . Performance Friday, 2:45 p.m

  • Science Adventures with the Magic School Bus - Grades 1-4

    Join Elaine Sneider (alias “Ms. Frizzle”) as we explore many science wonders. Each day we will focus on a different Magic School Bus episode. We will do science experiments, play games, eat related snacks, make crafts and enjoy more science fun. Subjects this year: Plants, Dinosaurs, Human Body, Food Chain, Gets Baked in a Cake.

  • Songwriting Workshop - Grades 7-12

    Do you have ideas about songs you would like to write? This is a workshop about what makes a song. We will spend time talking about song structure, some basic music theory, and methods for coming up with and developing lyrics (or not necessarily if the song happens to be instrumental, but more geared towards the singer/songwriter vibe). The goal would be for each student to be able to end the week with a completed, or mostly completed song that they can perform for the class, or parents or whoever wants to attend.

  • Spanish Reading and Storytelling - Grade 6-8

    Students will hear and read and re-tell stories and create their own spoken and written stories as their level of acquisition allows.

  • Step Leadership - Grades 5-8

    Individuals will build character, leadership, team & communication skills while creating a step performance together. Theatrically they will practice stage presence, focuses and breaking stage fright. A talent portion may be incorporated which will allow the youth to showcase their talent.

    Fee: $149
    Materials: Please bring comfortable clothes, shoes, water, towels. Prepare to sweat.
    Class Capacity: 16
    Instructor: Pasha Carter loves to have fun! She thrives on being a mentor to youth of all ages including preschoolers! She is extremely passionate and assertive with theatre and Step coaching. Being thyself allows others to be themselves, which is she also encourages! She is an artist of many gifts!
  • Ukelele Camp - Grades 5-8

    This class is designed for students who are just beginning their study of this instrument. Tuning, strumming patterns and chord progressions will be taught using a variety of popular songs. Students will perform a concert for their families at the end of the week.
     
    Fee: $149

Cancellation Policy
You may cancel up to one week prior to the first day of a class or camp and will receive a full refund minus the 25% non-refundable deposit. Cancellation within one week before the first day of a class or camp may result in no refund due to teachers' preparations based on expected enrollment. All classes and camps are subject to cancellation due to insufficient enrollment. If this should occur, you will be notified and a full refund given.

Before & After Camp Care Available

Adults with experience in before and after school care programs care for and supervise the children. The program offers creative and fun activities, such as games, arts, and crafts.

Morning Before Camp Care 7:30am - 9:00am
Afternoon After Camp Care 3:30pm - 5:30pm

SummerTime Fees

Fees listed below are for one week of camp (Mon-Fri) at the class times specified.

Full-day (Grades 1-8)

$259: Includes Before Camp Care, choice of Morning Class, Lunch Supervision, choice of Afternoon Class, and After Camp Care.

Half-day Options (Grades 1-8)
$149:
Morning Class (includes Before Camp Care)

Afternoon Class (includes After Camp Care)

Hobbit Camp: 
Ages 2 and a half (by Sept.) through 3 years old; and ages 4 to 5 years.

Full-day
$239: Includes Before Camp Care, Morning Hobbit Camp, Lunch Supervision, Afternoon Hobbit Camp, and After Camp Care.

Half-day Options
$139: Morning session (includes Before Camp Care)
or
$120: Afternoon session (includes After Camp Care)

Lunch Supervision: Preschool - Grade 8 (12:00-12:30pm)
$50: The lunch supervision includes time to eat lunch brought from home with a beverage (refrigeration is provided) and time for socializing and free time on the playground. Lunch Supervision is included in the Full-Day Fee, so there is no Lunch Supervision fee for students staying for a full day.

High School Classes (Grades 9-12)
Classes are individually priced.

Registration Fees
All registration fees are due in full before the first day of class or your spot is not guaranteed. This includes your application and the total cost of each program. No classes will be prorated.

Payment is accepted by check, MasterCard, VISA, American Express, Discover, or a money order made payable to Maumee Valley Country Day School. Cash will also be accepted in the Lower School office.

Confirmation
A confirmation notice is sent upon receipt of a completed application and payment. Your confirmation will contain information regarding check-in procedures.
