Your Questions Answered

List of 6 frequently asked questions.

  • When will campus re-open?

Maumee Valley will follow state and federal guidelines related to campus closure. Effective March 30, Governor DeWine extended building closure and remote learning through May 1, 2020. Maumee Valley will continue to deliver our education remotely until further notice.
  • Who do I contact if I have questions during remote learning?

Division Heads will be your primary point of contact for remote learning. If you have questions specific to your child, please reach out to your child’s teacher or advisor.

  • How can I support my children during remote learning?

We understand that remote learning comes with challenges. We are all doing the best that we can. More than ever this will be a partnership between home and school and will require flexibility. Our remote learning schedules build in time away from screens for play, physical movement, socialization, and family.
    • Maumee Valley is here to support our families as we navigate this journey together.
    • Make sure your child has a quiet and organized workspace at home.
    • Check in frequently with your child to ensure they are staying on task and attending class sessions and scheduled meetings.
    • Please check Storypark and/or MyMV every Sunday (and throughout the week) for weekly plans, class learning objectives, assignments, Zoom links, and other course updates.
    • Reach out to your child’s teachers or advisor if your child is struggling to keep up with the course content, and encourage your child to seek additional support by connecting with teachers during their virtual office hours.
    • Email your child’s teachers to inform them if your child is unable to attend class sessions due to illness or other reasons.
    • Reach out to our student support team members should your child need additional support coping with the transition to online learning and/or the current global crisis.
    • Encourage your child to maintain healthy sleep and eating habits and to exercise daily.
    • Encourage your child to maintain their social networks by using virtual platforms to stay connected with friends.
  • What is the status of Maumee Valley events and field trips?

All events hosted by Maumee Valley or scheduled to be held at a Maumee Valley facility will be postponed or canceled through May 1, 2020. Rescheduling of events will be reviewed case by case and will depend on CDC and government guidelines. Field trips scheduled through May 1 will also be postponed or canceled.
  • Can I get into the buildings to pick up items that my child left behind?

Only school employees are permitted on campus to do essential work related to distance education. Should you need to pick up essential items from campus, a school employee can deliver the items to you for curbside pick up on campus. Please contact your division head for help.
  • Will families continue to pay tuition while students are not on campus?

Teaching and learning is continuing during this period of campus closure, so Maumee Valley will continue to collect tuition. Our faculty and staff are more committed than ever to fulfilling our Maumee Valley mission and vision. Remote learning requires increased planning and collaboration, as well as an all-hands-on-deck approach with our student support staff, technology team, faculty, and administrative staff putting in countless hours to ensure our students have the optimal learning experience from home. Field trip and travel fees are being refunded to families if trips have been canceled.

Families who are experiencing extreme hardship due to the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic should contact the Business Office to discuss restructuring your current payment plan. Please contact Kim Spurgeon at kspurgeon@mvcds.org.
