Social Studies
Students in grades 1-6 are exposed to topics in social studies that support the development of understanding the world around them in the classroom and extending to the nation and world in which they live. The curriculum in each area (Primary, Lower Intermediate, and Upper Intermediate) rotates between Year A and Year B topics of study. Embedded in each unit are themes of inquiry, geography, economics, civics, history, culture, and global connections. Students are encouraged to ask relevant questions, apply prior knowledge to propose possible actions, and use appropriate methods for interpreting information. Learning experiences are designed to make connections across disciplines, apply skills in technology, and foster active citizenship.
