Physical Education

The mission of the Physical Education department is to inspire and cultivate optimal learning opportunities to enable our students to be competent and confident in pursuing a healthy, life-long physically active lifestyle. This will be accomplished in a positive environment that encourages good character and strong leadership qualities.

  • Health

    This course empower students with the knowledge and skills needed to make responsible decisions and contribute to a healthy and safe society. Students will engage in the following topics: human anatomy and organ systems, nutrition and physical activity, substance use/abuse education, healthy relationships and intimacy, and stress management. Completion of this course is a graduation requirement.
  • Nothing but Net

    The goal of this course is to gain knowledge of the sport of volleyball and Pickleball. We will learn the rules and objectives of the game. We will build the skills used to play volleyball and pickleball by learning the fundamentals, strengthening core muscles, and studying the movements and strategies used throughout the games. Communication in these sports are key, and these skills can be utilized in other areas of life. Through all of this, students will learn how to be a team player. Successful completion of this course will lead to 0.5 graduation credits towards PE.
  • Physical Education

    The goal of this course is to start or continue a student's journey to lifelong health and wellness. Students will build their physical strength by practicing various types of yoga, strength training, circuit training, pilates, and running. This course emphasizes the understanding of the importance of leading physically active lifestyles and creating opportunities for students to take ownership of their personal fitness and physical activity. The overall goal is to develop individuals who have the knowledge, skills, and confidence to enjoy a lifetime of healthful physical activities.
  • Sports Social

    The goal of this course is to gain knowledge of sports and activities outside of the traditional PE offerings.  We will explore local recreational and fitness opportunities such as: golf, kickboxing, rock climbing, ax throwing, and more. This course emphasizes the understanding of the importance of leading physically active lifestyles and creating opportunities for students to take ownership of their personal fitness and physical activity and recreation. The overall goal of the program is to develop individuals who have the knowledge, skills, and confidence to enjoy a lifetime of healthful physical activities and recreation.
  • Strength Training

    The goal of this course is to gain the knowledge of basic weightlifting. Students will create individualized lifting plans and schedules and learn the importance of proper form and technique. This course covers the understanding of engaging different muscle groups and the mechanics behind each exercise. The overall goal is to develop individuals who feel comfortable and confident with strength training while using proper form and technique to achieve their desired goals.
