MSA invites community to annual Iftar Dinner

The Muslim Student Association (MSA) at Maumee Valley is inviting the community to its annual Iftar Dinner on Jueves, Marzo 20, from 7-9 p.m. The event takes place in the Dining Hall. Students, faculty, parents, and members of the Toledo community are all welcome and encouraged to RSVP via this Google Form. The evening promises cultural enrichment and celebration, featuring activities such as stations to spell your name in Arabic, Henna drawing, and more.

A highlight of the event will be a keynote address by Dr. Tesneem Alkiek, director of content strategy and assistant director of research at the Yaqeen Institute for Islamic Research.

“We are thrilled to host Dr. Alkiek as our guest speaker for this year’s Iftar Dinner,” said Rami Ridi ’25, president of the MSA. “Her insights and expertise will enrich our community’s understanding of Islamic culture and traditions.”

About Dr. Tesneem Alkiek

Dr. Tesneem Alkiek, MSA Iftar Dinner speaker

Tesneem obtained her undergraduate degree in Early Christianity and Islamic Studies from the University of Michigan. She went on to complete her Ph.D. in Islamic Studies at Georgetown University with a focus on Islamic law. Tesneem currently serves as the Director of Expanded Learning where she works with her team to create curricula and other resources for communities to engage with Yaqeen’s research. She is also a Lecturer in the Department of Philosophy and Religion at Rutgers University-Camden.
