"What You See Is What You Missed"
An exquisite, linear abstraction of leaves ... an explosive landscape of pixelated color. If these two images are hard to reconcile, it is because we tend to distinguish the authenticity of the biological world from the artificiality of the virtual one. But the forest and the video game are both deep and complex environments, and however widely we explore them, the experience is often selective and incomplete. Whether in the grand outdoors or in "Grand Theft Auto," we may be distracted by fascinating particularities as easily we may find ourselves lost in the wondrous expanse.

Barbara Miner and Dan Hernandez depict the visual complexities of these worlds in images that range from microcosms of form and color to macrocosms of interconnected life. They teach us to see anew the worlds we shape and inhabit and to realize how much is yet to be discovered.
