Maumee Valley is offering two accelerated online courses this summer for rising 10th-12th graders: Upper School Health and Upper School Physical Education—Fitness for Life. Both courses fulfill graduation requirements and are taught by Heather Rakosik using a hybrid synchronous/asynchronous format. Health will run from Juin 9-24, while Fitness for Life includes on-campus sessions from Juin 30–Juillet 3. Each course is $500, with mandatory attendance required for synchronous sessions. Upper school health

Course Details:
- Offered to rising 10th, 11th, and 12th graders
- The course is offered as a .5 Health credit for Upper School. This course fulfills the Upper School Health requirement for graduation.
- The course is offered as an accelerated online course using a hybrid synchronous/asynchronous model.
- Due to the accelerated nature of the course, all synchronous sessions are mandatory in order to receive credit for the course.
- Students will access lessons and submit assignments for the course via MyMV.
Assignment expectations and deadlines will be shared at the beginning of the course. - Students should expect to spend 8-10 hours per week on coursework.
- During asynchronous times, students will be able to email the instructor with any questions or attend live office hours.
- The course is offered as a Pass/Fail class. No letter grades will be given.

Upper School Physical Education–Fitness for Life

- Offered to rising 10th, 11th, and 12th graders
- The course is offered as a .5 Physical Education credit for Upper School. For graduation, students need 1 full Physical Education credit. Therefore, an additional PE course will need to be taken over the course of the student’s upper school years.
- The course is offered as an accelerated online course using a hybrid synchronous/asynchronous model.
- Due to the accelerated nature of the course, all synchronous sessions are mandatory in order to receive credit for the course.
- Students will access lessons and submit assignments for the course via MyMV.
- Assignment expectations and deadlines will be shared at the beginning of the course.
- During asynchronous times, students will be able to email the instructor with any questions or attend live office hours.

- Students will participate in both on-campus and off-campus physical activities.
- Students will need to bring their lunch and water bottle each day.

- The cost for each course is $500 per student ($1,000 for both) and will be billed to the student’s account.
- Currently, we are not able to offer financial assistance for the courses. We are exploring options and will communicate if we are able to do so in the future.
- A minimum of 5 students must enroll in each course in order for the class to run.
- If, after the sign-up deadline, we do not have 5 students enrolled, MV will cancel the class, notify families, and provide refunds.
- Once families have been notified that the class will run, no refunds will be given for any reason.
There is a maximum of 20 students for each class.
