Maumee Valley Country Day School is seeking a dynamic educator who orchestrates learning for students in ways that are engaging, challenging, and relevant. The successful candidate is a resourceful teacher who uses a range of pedagogical techniques in order to reach all learners and forge strong relationships with students and families.
This position reports to the Head of the Upper School and collaborates closely with the Upper School Math Department and Student Support Team. As a full-time employee, the position offers all benefits afforded to full-time staff, including a robust array of health and life insurance, retirement, and tuition remission.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Teach four sections of high school-level math, including Accelerated/AP level classes
- Manage a student load of between 60 and 80 students
- Nurture and support an advisee group of between 10 and 15 students
- Participate in the life of the school by attending athletics, arts, fundraising, and other school events
- Participate on committees and task forces as needed
- Sponsor student clubs and activities as needed
- Lead/co-teach Intensives (two out of three per year)
- Meet performance goals established as part of the annual performance planning process or as the result of organizational planning
- Actively engage in personal and professional work in support of the school’s diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor
Skills and Competencies:
- STEM experience or experience/interest in developing experiential projects
- Possess an interactive approach to teaching
- Ability to collaborate within and between departments
- Ideally have experience with differentiated instruction and developing Understanding By Design units
- Be creative and have ideas for developing Intensive math units or courses
- Be adept at teaching with graphing calculators and familiar with other technologies
- Be enthusiastic about teaching math and pursuing professional development
Credentials:- Experience teaching upper-level math classes
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
Faculty: Must be willing and able to secure an
Ohio Permanent Non-Tax certificate or a professional teaching license. The school will support you in obtaining this once hired. However, it must be secured within the first six months of employment for compliance purposes.
