6 MV students perform with regional Honors Orchestra
Congratulations to six Maumee Valley students who performed this weekend with Honors Orchestras organized by the District 1 Ohio Music Education Association.
Performing Sunday (Jan. 22) with the High School Honors Orchestra were Sydney Abercrombie '25, Sofia Avram '26, Zach Kiehl '24, and Sharon Deng '23 (principal cello). Performing with the Middle School Honors Orchestra were Julian Beatty-Duarte '28 and Robbie Zhang '27 (principal cello).
The students were busy last week, with a Wednesday rehearsal, all-day Saturday rehearsals, and separate concerts at Stranahan Theater.
"I was asked to help with coaching, so I witnessed all of their hard work throughout the weekend," said Cecilia Johnson, who teaches string performance at Maumee Valley. "Robbie and Sharon were principal players. Robbie even had a solo, which he played beautifully."
Accepted into the High School Honors Orchestra but unable to appear Sunday was Jacob Hennon '25. Accepted into the Middle School Honors Orchestra but unable to appear Sunday was Sereen Taleb '27.
