Walking through the halls of Maumee Valley one is struck by the diverse composition of our student body. Students from nearly every continent and major religious background are represented. Forty-three percent of the student body is multicultural and they come from over 45 zip codes. Many are first and second generation Americans, still others are international students.
Students collaborate with diverse peers both on campus and internationally. Through Sister School relationships and travel abroad opportunities, Maumee Valley students regularly work “alongside” students from across the globe, addressing global concerns and sharing cultures. In classroom study and overseas opportunities our students learn empathy for others, a respect for different values systems and beliefs, and that all of us can make a difference in the lives of others.
The Global Leadership Program is a hallmark of the Maumee Valley experience where global themes ranging from Global Healthcare to U.S.-China relations to Food & Hunger are explored through coursework, guest lectures, a student book club, and in the student-led Issue Day symposium. The complementary Global Scholar Certificate encourages Upper School students to engage in a carefully designed four-year program, which includes travel abroad during Winterim. On average an amazing 67% of students study overseas before graduating.
