Lynn Casto, Head of School
Lynn brings an impressive background in independent school education to Maumee Valley. She attended the Columbus School for Girls, discovering a dual love for athletics and the arts. At Davidson College, she earned a bachelor’s degree in Art History while playing NCAA Division I Lacrosse. She went on to earn two masters degrees in education, one in arts education from Ohio State University, and a second in private school leadership from the prestigious Teachers College at Columbia University. She has taught and coached at the Brookwood School in Georgia, and at Charlotte Country Day School in North Carolina. Lynn and her husband, Keith have two sons who will attend MVCDS’s Middle School next year: Caleb will be in eighth grade, and Ian will be in seventh grade. Read more here.
Early Learning Center
Michelle Thomas, Director of the Early Learning Center.
Michelle is joining us from Amsterdam, where she is the Grade Level Coordinator at the Amsterdam International School, she is originally from the Toledo area. Michelle graduated from Perrysburg High School and received her BS in Early Childhood Education from Bowling Green State University. After college Michelle moved to Colorado where she taught Kindergarten and early elementary grades. She earned an MA in Educational Leadership from Colorado Mesa University and she received a Certificate of Linguistically and Culturally Diverse Education from Regis University. Michelle has also had training in the Reggio Emelia approach to education, and her current school provided her with an administrative training program. She is excited to be returning home to be near family and friends.
Jaime Lassman, Head of Lower School
Jaime is joining us from The Lexington School, in Lexington Kentucky, where he has been the Director of Studies since 2011. Jaime has been regularly recognized as one of the outstanding teachers at The Lexington School where he also taught thirrd grade for many years. Prior to Lexington, Jaime taught elementary school at Wilmington Friends School, the Quaker school he attended and graduated from in Wilmington, Delaware. Jaime has a BS in Elementary Education from the University of Delaware, and an MA in Educational Instructional Systems Design from the University of Kentucky. Jaime will be joining our community with his wife Amy, and their two children, Jack who is ten and will enter sixth grade in the fall, and Reed, who is five and will begin Kindergarten this fall.
Jill Augustyniak, Director of Student Support
Jill has worked at Maumee Valley since 1995 as a Lower Intermediate teacher and area coordinator. She participated in several summer institutes in the areas of reading, writing, and multi-sensory education and looks forward to helping students learn to their optimal abilities.
Brooke Schlageter, Assistant Director of College Counseling
Brooke, a current Upper School English teacher, will work as an understudy with Dennis Eller throughout the next college application season, learning the processes and rhythms of this college application season. As a veteran English teacher, Brooke will be invaluable to students in helping students produce college essays that are well-written and that fully capture all they have to offer. Brooke will have a reduced teaching load next year to help give her time for her new responsibilities.
Amy Hunt, Director of Advancement
Amy has over fifteen years of fundraising experience, most of it at Hamilton College in New York, where she is currently the Major Gifts Officer and Director of Annual Giving Leadership Gifts. Amy also has extensive experience working with alumni. The MVCDS community was particularly impressed with Amy’s enthusiasm for matching the needs of the institution with the passion of the donor. Amy her husband, Dale, and their two children, Gabe and Chase will join MVCDS in July.
