Experiential Learning

Collaboration and group presentations are key components of the Upper Intermediate experience. By working together on projects, students do more than read about problems, they create solutions. Preparation for the Middle School is also a central focus. Students refine their communication skills daily through intensive writing instruction, novel studies, book clubs, and year long research projects.

Upper Intermediate students spend a great deal of time preparing for what comes next in their educational journey: Middle School. Emphasis is given to relating the critical importance of responsibility and self-direction, including creating good study habits and being prepared to complete tests and more complex projects. Students in Grades 5 and 6 take greater ownership of their work in general. They must demonstrate what they learn in a variety of ways and apply their knowledge to solve problems and carry out tasks.
