I really appreciate the opportunity that Maumee Valley gave me to spend time with my Buddy Family. They taught me a lot, both in school and in my American life.

The Dayal House

A unique aspect of Maumee Valley’s residential program is the opportunity to connect with a buddy family who finds opportunities to invite our boarding students to movies, family dinners, and other off-campus activities throughout the school year. In other words, residential students have a “home away from home” as the program gives students a regular family connection in that transition toward greater independence during the formative high school years.

A few occasions students spend time with a buddy family include:
  • birthdays & holiday celebrations.
  • ski trip or other activity over a long weekend.
  • college visits.
  • movies, bowling, or family game night.
  • help with transportation when the student has an appointment off-campus.
Most boarding schools cannot offer this opportunity because they do not have a large enough day school population. At Maumee Valley, our families are always interested in welcoming new students to the community and sharing their family time with a student who is away from home. The buddy program is coordinated by the Director of Student Life and is available to all students who live in on-campus housing.
