Michael married Annette Queen, Toledo, June 3, 2017 in Toeldo, OH.
  • Ron Birnbaum, M.D. ’89

Ron is running for California 5th Assembly. He is a lifelong Democrat, progressive community activist, union member, and Democratic Delegate and will get results for their community. As a physician tirelessly dedicated to the underserved in Los Angeles County, Ron sees that when government fails, people suffer. He knows that progressive policies put human needs first and that the way to put them in place is to organize, galvanize, and speak to the deep human spirit of people in this community. Here’s how Ron will get the job done:
  • Kelsy Grefe ’03

While on a walk at Kelsy and Anthony’s favorite metropark, Wildwood, Anthony Oberhaus surprised Kelsy with a proposal. Shortly after, the happy couple headed over to her parent's house for a surprise engagement party full of family, friends, and plenty of champagne. They just moved into a house together, got a kitten, and plan to marry in the Spring 2018, hopefully in a tropical destination!
  • Michael Gardner ’13

Michael Gardner and Kyle Neumann the class Presidents of their senior class at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) addressed the RPI graduates. Michael, a dual major in computer and systems engineering and computer science with a minor in music, served as a member of the Class Council during his time at Rensselaer, and was a member of RPISEC, a security club, and the Rensselaer Center for Open Source (RCOS). Michael was also an active member of the RPI Players, a student-led theater group, and served as director of the Delta Xi cast Alpha Psi Omega Theater honor society, as well as member of the Computing and Information Disciplines honor society, Upsilon Pi Epsilon. Following graduation, Gardner plans to continue his education at Rensselaer by pursuing a master’s of science in technology commercialization and entrepreneurship.
Michael Gardner and Kyle Neumann speakers at RPI’s graduation praised their class for creating their Student Relief Fund, which helps students in emergency financial situations (the first of it’s kind at RPI), with the fund over $17,000 and encouraged their class to continue widening their perspectives. "No matter what you participated in at Rensselaer, we all made new friends, people of different backgrounds than we grew up with at home. It is through the friends we made that we learned lessons that helped us grow along with the technical knowledge of our coursework ... We will continue our learning in academia or industry with new mentors to push us further in our passions and broaden our worldview. All the while we will keep RPI’s mission at heart: ‘Why not change the world.’"
