MVCDS Art Teacher Wins Award

Congratulations to MVCDS art teacher Kristin Kowalski! She has been awarded the Ohio Art Education Association's Outstanding Art Teacher Award for the Northwest Ohio region for 2019. She will attend an awards ceremony at the Ohio Art Education Association Conference at the Columbus Convention Center on November 15, 2019.
Kristin has been an art educator for 11 years. She currently teaches Grades 8 through 12 at Maumee Valley Country Day School and has served as the MVCDS Fine Arts Chair for three years. Kristin is co-director of Wolfe Gallery, located on the MVCDS campus. She teaches a new and interesting curriculum, including merging with the science department or creating conceptual works out of found recycled materials. Kristin is a dedicated, creative leader, and professional art educator.

Her students’ artwork is regularly exhibited in YAM and YPAE state shows, OAEA's regional YAM Show, Marcy Kaptur Congressional Exhibition, Focus Art Show, Scholastic, Cleveland Clinic Expressions program, and Connect to Creativity at the Public Library. Kristin is a professional, practicing ceramic artist and has work in: Art Educators as Artist at the Riffe Gallery in Columbus OH. She is currently represented by Harris Stanton Galleries in Akron and Cleveland Ohio.
