The Maumee Valley Country Day School Theatre Department is proud to present War of the Worlds at MVCDS’s Millennium Theater at 7:30 p.m. starting Thursday, Nov. 19, and running through Saturday, Nov. 21. This will be the world premiere of this production created by MVCDS students. This production will perform for a limited, socially-distanced audience and be live-streamed on YouTube.

War of the Worlds, based on the 1897 H.G. Wells' novel, tells the story of a Martian attack on London and its effect on the population. Starting from the first person narrative, students wrote the interweaving story of eleven survivors. This diverse group of characters is thrown together in a London safe house while the attack continues around them. The century-old novel tackles isolation, community responsibility, and microscopic disease. The plot and themes were an easy point of entry for the cast and current events played an important role in the creation of this version of the story. A devised theatre piece, written, designed, and performed by students, under the guidance of the Director of Theatre, Brian Bozanich, meets the MVCDS mission of intentionally creating, supporting, and celebrating an environment where diverse learners, voices, stories, and experiences will be on full display in this premiere.

A limited number of tickets are free and may be reserved with Mr. Bozanich (bbozanich@mvcds.org) The show will also be streamed on YouTube, see MVCDS.org for links.  For more information, call 419-381-1313 x205.
