Middle School Minecraft club creates tour of Maumee Valley Country Day School

The project took place over four years, with up to eight students working once or twice a week to get to the point of making the video tour.

A middle school student at Maumee Country Day School discussed their love of Minecraft years ago with science and math Frank Daugherty.

"I suggested we start a club with other like-minded students," Daugherty said. "We met and came up with the idea to make our campus using the game."

Minecraft allows players can build, mine, and explore in the game that is available online and through XBox.

Students took pictures and measurements, acquired blueprints of our campus, and broke the project down into smaller chunks.

The project took place over four years, with up to eight students working once or twice a week to get to the point of making the video tour.

The Middle School group started in 2010 to encourage creativity, collaboration, and community by using the game. The group's goal was to show the cooperative, building side of Minecraft and to show people who don't play Minecraft what the game can do.

Although the project died down as students lost interest in the game, it is essential to showcase the student's work in the attached video and recognize how student interest fueled their passion for learning.
