Maumee Valley Country Day School has 3 on all-state orchestra, 7 earn all-region

The regional orchestra will perform on Nov. 14 at Perrysburg High School and the all-state performance will take place on Feb. 3-5 in Cleveland as part of the Ohio Music Education Association’s annual professional development conference.
Seven Maumee Valley students qualified for the 2021 Northwest Regional Orchestra and three of those students also earned all-state distinction.

Isabelle Broman, Karen Chen, Sharon Deng, Ariana Fahl, Stephen Kilpatrick, Grace Lee and Lyra Qian earned the all-region distinction through the Ohio Music Education Association.

Broman, Deng, and Lee all placed highly enough to earn all-state recognition.

Students had to prepare the same music excerpt and submit their recordings and scales.

“This is a fairly large group to represent a school the size of Maumee Valley. They are exceedingly talented,” said Tom Sieberg, Middle School, and Upper School strings teacher. “They’ve worked hard for this and they’ve put in the extra time to prepare for this event.”

Students will get an opportunity to train under professional conductors.
