Full string ensemble set to take stage for Tuesday concert
Tuesday's performance features MV Vocal Ensemble and Chamber Strings with Middle School Strings included in some numbers. Also featured is Kevin Ludwig '22 and his pianist Jeffery Maxie with the MV string quintet -Grace Lee '22, Isabelle Broman '22, Joscelyn Dixon '22, Sharon Deng '22, and Stephen Kilpatrick '22 performing Broadway show tunes.
Students have been putting in extra work to prepare the Middle School and Upper School strings and choir concert next week.
The concert begins at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 7, in the Millennium Theatre. You can watch online here.

Kevin is presenting "An Evening at Broadway" Dec. 11 at Maumee Indoor Theatre. Tickets for his show are available at http://kevinaludwig03.wix.com/music/shows.
Chamber strings will feature Kilpatrick on string bass performing Max Bruch's powerful "Kol Nedrei." String bass is rarely featured on the solo stage and you don't want to miss this.
Under the direction of Tom Sieberg, students also are performing a strings-only arrangement of "Beethoven's 5th Symphony Mvt.1." This is not your typical simplified arrangement, but Beethoven's actual score is arranged to perform without winds. It is quite a challenge for high school musicians.
Also on the program is music from Narnia "The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe," and Sieberg's personal favorite "O Magnum Mysterium" by Morton Lauridson.
"I'm most excited to be playing in person with our full string ensemble; we missed a few concert cycles because of COVID, and a lot of members were remote last year," Deng said. "I'm also looking forward to Stephen's solo on Kol Nidrei because the pandemic kept us from playing the piece two years ago."
Maumee Valley Country Day School is the only PreK-12th grade accredited, co-educational, and independent school in Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan.
