  • The Speech Team is Having an Amazing Year

    The MVCDS Speech Team has had an outstanding year to date. They will compete almost every weekend from the middle of November till the first weekend in March.

    The MVCDS team can compete in nine categories, and they consistently bring in trophies for several of the nine. When it came time to qualify for states, nine of the eleven students qualified for the state tournament and won four different categories. The team placed 3rd in the Toledo district.

    This past weekend the students competed in the national qualifying tournament. Five MVCDS team members qualified for the national tournament in Texas this summer. Overall the team placed 2nd in western Ohio.
  • UI Students Place at Science Fair

    Congratulations to UI students Shrishte B., Kyle W., and Anne-Marie G., for placing in the MVCDS 2019 Science fair. They can now progress to the Annual Ohio Academy of Science Northwest Ohio District 2 Science Day (NWDSD) to be held at the University of Toledo on Saturday, March 2nd, 2019. Science Day is the regional science fair for students in grades 5-12 in schools in Defiance, Fulton, Henry, Lucas, Ottawa, Sandusky, Williams, and Wood counties.
  • Two Seniors are Finalists in National Merit Scholarship Program

    Maumee Valley students continue to excel in the national arena. Two seniors, Julia Xiong and Evan Heritage, received notification that they are Finalists in the National Merit Scholarship Program. National Merit recognizes outstanding student performance on the PSAT/NMSQT® test taken during the junior year. Of the 1.6 million entrants who take the PSAT/NMSQT® test, National Merit selects 15,000 students for Finalist standing, and approximately half of the Finalists will win a National Merit Scholarship. We wish Julia and Evan well as they enter the final stage of the National Merit Scholarship selection process.
  • Eighth Grader has Short Story Published

    Congratulations to 8th grader Gustavo Caillaux! His short story "Lost in the Amazon" will be featured in the upcoming issue of The Daphne Review. The editor of this highly selective literary journal writes that she is "thrilled" to include Gustavo's story because he possesses "a powerful artistic voice." High praise! Congrats, Gustavo!
  • Fifth Grade Artist's Work in Exhibition

    Fifth-grader, Imaan Z. has been chosen as an exhibitor in the 39th Annual Youth Art Month Exhibition sponsored by the Ohio Art Education Association.

    Her artwork will be displayed in the Youth Art Month Exhibition at the State Teacher’s Retirement Systems (STRS) building, 275 East Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio. The art will be on display February 16th to March 23rd, 2019 during regular business hours from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday.

    The Recognition Ceremony is Saturday, March 2nd, 2019, 2:30 -3:30 pm.

  • Young Artists Work Selected for Ohio Exhibit

    Michelle L., Grade 6, and Bella M., Grade 8, have had artwork chosen to be exhibited in the "2019 Ohio Art Education Association’s Young People’s Art Exhibition". The exhibit represents Ohio students in grades pre-kindergarten through eighth and is on display at Rhodes State Office Tower in Columbus, Ohio from February 16th - March 23rd.


  • US Mock Trial Team Take Awards

    The MVCDS Upper School Mock Trial Team celebrated impressive outcomes from their competition on January 18th. The team did well overall and took home some individual honors. Members of the team, Jeremy Mahoney ’21 and Aly Soltan ’19 earned outstanding attorney awards, and Denise Tamesis ’19 received an outstanding witness award.
  • Freshman will have Poetry Published

    Congratulations to freshman Mia Westfere! Her poetry was selected for publication in the anthology Singing in Silence by VerbalEyze Press, available for purchase at both Barnes and Noble and Amazon.
  • MVCDS Students Win at MATHCOUNTS

    MVCDS took six students to the MATHCOUNTS competition on January 26th at the University of Toledo’s College of Engineering. The participants were Kevin C. ‘24, Benjamin H. ‘23, Tameem Z. ‘23, Josh W. ‘25, Omar S. ‘23, and Shrishte B. ‘25.

    Kevin placed 3rd overall and Benny placed 11th. They then competed with the rest of the top 16 in head to head rounds of questions. Kevin came in second. The team of 4 which consisted of Kevin, Benny, Tameem and Josh placed second out of the 16 teams competing. Maumee Valley will now advance to the state competition in Columbus on March 9th. Congratulations to the competitors!
  • Juniors Receive Writing Awards

    Congratulations to the following students who received recognition in the 2019 Scholastic Writing Awards competition! Colette Jarrell ’20 received a Silver Key award in the Humor category for her “Top Ten Steps to College Aid”. Ann Williams ‘20 received two Honorable Mentions for her poems “Swan Song” and “Dreams in April”.
  • Freshman Wins Prestigious Opportunity

    Congratulations to freshman Neena Dzur! She has been accepted to the prestigious Juniper Institute for Young Writers. Neena will travel to the University of Massachusetts Amherst this summer and spend eight days on campus with other high school writers. She will participate in writing workshops, studio sessions, readings, and field trips, immersed in the world of the literary arts.
  • Seventh Graders Have Award-Winning Crystal

    Congratulations to seventh graders, Helaina H., Kaleb T., and Holden F.! They won 1st place in the Quality K-8 category of the National Crystal Growing Competition. Students from all over the country competed.
