Ohio SGO Tax Credit

The Ohio Scholarship Granting Organization (SGO) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that receives donations from individuals to provide academic scholarships to K-12 students. It is not an expense, but a dollar-for-dollar tax credit (up to $750 for single filers and $1,500 for joint filers), meaning you redirect funds you would already pay in state taxes directly to student scholarships.

You don’t lose money; you simply choose where a portion of your Ohio tax liability is invested.

HOW IT WORKS

  • Estimate Your Ohio Tax Liability: Review line 8C on the 1040 form you filed for 2025.
  • Contribute to the Fund: Go to the OAIS Scholarship Granting Organization page, and select “Maumee Valley Country Day School” as your school designation.
  • Claim Your Tax Credit: Complete your Ohio income tax return and include your receipt. Receive a dollar-for-dollar credit of up to $750 for single filers and $1,500 for joint filers.
  • Spread the Word: Anyone with an Ohio income tax liability can contribute.
