Communication

Music is a form of communication meant to be experienced by individuals of all cultures, races, and backgrounds. Through the experience of listening and performing, students learn that music is a universal and ever-evolving language that moves us both emotionally and physically.

Participation

MVCDS music students participate in regional Ohio Music Educators Association (OMEA) sponsored events, and perform throughout the Northwest Ohio community.

Music Appreciation: Bach to Beethoven to Brahms

This course serves as an introduction to early music history and appreciation, and to recorder and ukulele ensemble performances.
Music Theory

This course will survey the actual mechanics behind the music.
Popular Music: Blues to Beatles to Beyonce

This course is a study of American music history and appreciation from the beginning of the twentieth century through contemporary times.
Steel Drums

The Steel Drum Ensemble course is an opportunity for students to explore the history of the steel drum, and to learn rhythm, drumming, and performance techniques.
Upper School Chorus

Students in the chorus will learn the principles of choral singing through rehearsing and performing a variety of musical selections from classical to popular styles.
