Dining & Nutrition

Fueling learning and growth
The dining program at Maumee Valley Country Day School is an integral component of the school’s commitment to providing a nurturing and supportive environment for students. With a focus on nutrition, variety, and convenience, the program offers breakfast and lunch options on days when school is open, ensuring that students have access to wholesome meals to fuel their day of learning and growth.
At Maumee Valley, dining is part of the learning experience. Our program offers a wide variety of wholesome choices every school day- hot entrées at breakfast and lunch, abundant grab-and-go options, and kid-friendly picks – so every Hawk can find something they love.
What you’ll find daily
- Chef’s Special: a made-fresh feature that changes every day
- Hot entrées at both breakfast and lunch
- Pizza/pasta bar, soups, and a full salad bar alongside rotating sides
- Dozens of à-la-carte choices (fruit, snacks, meal bars, beverages)
- PreK–1st grade favorites offered in age-appropriate portions
The program is managed by Legacy Partners of NWO, with accounts handles through the SchoolCafe app. Families may also contact Terry & Annika Awls at [email protected].
November at MVCDS: Cuisine, not just a meal
Because food should be memorable, crafted with care, bright flavors, and hospitality that feels like a smile.
- Signature Spotlight: The Hawk Wrap: Our newest signature item layers chef-selected proteins, crisp greens, and house-made accents for a craveable, balanced bite. Designed as cuisine, not cafeteria.
- Weekly Favorite: Taco Tuesdays: Every Tuesday, build your own flavor flight: warm tortillas, seasoned fillings, vibrant toppings, fresh salsas. Fast, fun, and chef-guided so every combo hits just right.
- Everyday Win: Chef-Designed Daily Lunch Combo: No decisions needed – just trust the chef. Each day’s combo is a curated trio (entrée + side + drink) that showcases fresh ingredients and smart flavor pairings. It’s quick, balanced, and crafted to delight.
- Sneak Peek: November Celebrity Chef Series: A live, on-campus chef demo with made-to-order sushi rolls—thoughtfully prepared with allergen awareness (including no-shellfish options). Education meets delicious.
Come hungry. Leave inspired. This is MVCDS cuisine.

Setting up you SchoolCafe account
- Download the Apple iOS or GooglePlay app OR use Schoolcafe.com
- Create an account/login. If you use your Gmail or Apple Mail account to log in you can avoid the security question steps
- Families add funds to accounts by:
-
- Using the app or the SchoolCafé website (with a $2.95 convenience fee per $500). Configure a low balance notification during the process and then tie your credit card to the account if you wish to fund the account electronically.
- Drop off cash or a check made out to Maumee Valley Country Day School to the Business Office.
- Anyone you designate can set up an account to add funds for your child. Spouse, Grandparents or the student themselves.
Options for managing your child’s account
There are no “family accounts” in SchoolCafé, but you can use one of your children’s accounts and share their PIN with your other children if you like. The low-balance alert still works but you do not get the per-child purchase tracking. It will only show as the single user making all the purchases.
If you use the app or website, you can also transfer funds between children’s accounts. But you must first electronically add funds to each child’s account at least one time to transfer funds between accounts. This activity verifies the accounts to enable this feature. After that step, you can easily distribute funds in the app.

Restricting your child’s purchases
Contact [email protected] to add cashier notifications to your child’s account to restrict purchases of specific items, restrict to cash only purchases, or to note dietary restrictions. A red flag will appear for the cashier when your child inputs their PIN for the cashier to read and enforce.
