Community leaders converge on Maumee Valley for inspirational leadership event
Maumee Valley Country Day School is proud to announce the hosting of a groundbreaking leadership event that brings together 12 influential community leaders to engage with and inspire our Upper School students.
This unique luncheon event is Thursday (Jan. 25) in the Boehm Building on the MV campus. It promises to be an enriching experience for both the students and the distinguished guests.
“The Leadership Summit aims to foster an environment of learning, mentorship, and collaboration,” said Jana Smith, the school’s dean of students and co-advisor to the school’s Leadership Academy. “Our students will have the invaluable opportunity to interact with accomplished leaders from various fields, gaining insights into leadership styles, career paths, and the importance of community engagement.”
Among the guests confirmed for the event are:

- Dr. Trent Hayes: Director of College Counseling, Maumee Valley Country Day School
- Trisha Darr Jambor: Owner, Maddie & Bella Coffee
- Jason J. Kelley: CEO and Founder, multiple small businesses
- Dr. Jennifer McCary: Chief People and Culture Officer, Toledo Museum of Art
- Clint McCormick: Senior Event Director, Run Toledo
- Dr. Alexandra Murray, DO: Emergency Medicine Physician and Flight Physician
- Demond Pryor: Assistant Dean of Student Engagement & Success, The University of Toledo
- Nelson Shaffer: Toledo City President, Citizens National Bank
- Leah Whitaker: Owner, Daddio Pets (MV alumnus)
The guests will rotate in a speed mentoring-like format among small groups of students, explaining their roles in their respective organizations and sharing tips and suggestions about leadership. “We are thankful these leaders are sharing their time with us, and we are looking forward to hearing about their experiences,” said Maya Cecil, a Maumee Valley senior and a member of its Leadership Academy.
“These leaders have demonstrated exceptional commitment and success in their respective fields, and their presence at our school is a testament to their dedication to nurturing the next generation of leaders,” said Rob Conover, Maumee Valley’s athletic director and the Academy’s co-advisor.
The Leadership Summit aligns with Maumee Valley’s commitment to empowering students with the knowledge, skills, and inspiration needed to excel in their academic and personal journeys.
