2/3 Concert & Art Show showcases talents, creativity

Families of 2nd and 3rd graders are invited to the Concert & Art Show on Friday, March 8, from 2-3 p.m. in the Millennium Theatre.
Students will present songs and stories, play instruments, and perform dances as images of their recent artwork are displayed on a screen above the stage. The songs, stories, and dances represent indigenous regions of the Northeast, Midwest, and Southeast they have studied in their classrooms.

When the concert ends, families can head to the Blakey Resource Center to view the villages students created to represent the indigenous peoples.

In the art room, students have been working hard to complete a "WOW" art piece for the art show. This is a "Wonderful Original Work" of art. They have been working in open studio centers to create a project of personal meaning.

Students have thoughtfully practiced using new materials, skills, and techniques. They have used their imagination to generate ideas and have stayed focused and committed to their art piece. Students have also created beaded necklaces with a large medallion to wear during the music performance.

Each student chose a symbol of personal meaning to represent themselves.
