Maumee Valley Junior Excels in Science Competitions

On Saturday, March 14, Maumee Valley Junior Richard Jin participated in the Ohio Northwest District Science Day. Richard presented a project that was based on a Research Internship in Science and Technology (RISE) that he participated in last summer at University of Toledo. The project title was “Sulfurization of Thin-Film Copper Antimony Sulfide for Low Cost and Environmental Friendly Solar Cells.”
Richard received a perfect score of 40 out of 40, a Superior rating. Richard’s phenomenal means he will be going on to the State Science Day in Columbus in May. He was also selected as one of 15 competitors to go to the Buckeye Science and Engineering Fair, which is a qualifier for Intel's International Science and Engineering Fair.  
 
Richard also received two special sponsored awards; the Governor's Thomas Edison Award for Excellence in Student Research - Advanced & Alternative Energy, for the best project involving advanced & alternative energy; and the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Award for the best project related to Aeronautics and Space.
