MVCDS Students Designated as AP Scholars

Of the 99 Maumee Valley Country Day School students who sat for Advanced Placement exams last spring, 36% have been designated AP Scholars by The College Board in recognition of their exceptional achievement on the college-level Advanced-Placement (AP) Program Exams. Nationally, only about 18% of the more than 1.8 million high school students worldwide who took AP Exams performed at a sufficiently high level to merit the recognition of AP Scholar.
The College Board recognizes several levels of achievement based on students’ performance on AP Exams. Lang Liang, Class of 2018, was recognized as a National AP Scholar by earning an average score of 4 or higher on a 5-point scale on eight or more AP Exams.

Ten students qualified for the AP Scholar with Distinction Award by earning an average grade of at least 3.5 on all AP exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams. Class of 2018 AP Scholars with Distinction are Nicholas Bamber, Emma Daugherty, and Emma Lavetter-Keidan, Abdelrahman Osman, Christopher Reynolds, Emily Rigby, and Kehui Tong. Class of 2019 AP Scholars with Distinction are Evan Heritage, Ethan Lodge, and Haoping Jin.

Five students qualified for the AP Scholar with Honor Award by earning an average grade of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams. Class of 2018 AP Scholars with Honor are Alexander Evans, Jude Furlong, Oliver Heard, and Emma O’Leary. Class of 2019 AP Scholar with Honor is Julia Xiong.

Twenty students qualified for the AP Scholar Award by completing three or more AP Exams with scores of 3 or higher. Class of 2018 AP Scholars are Natalie Bawab, Ella Foster, Ishani Gupta, Min Jin, Sahil Kattar, Minh Le, Toral Soram, Natalie Sullivan Baker, Yi Wu, Jia Xu, Yifan Zhang, and Yinglun Zhang; Class of 2019 AP Scholars are Sawsan Alkhalili, Emma Avram, Shreyas Banerjee, Kiran Dzur, Alexandra Grinevich, Sneha Kamath, Patrick McNally, and Denise Tamesis.
